The Pandemic: A Philosophical Diagnosis

The paper examines the event of pandemic in three aspects: a metaphor our age, an issue ethics, new phase anthropogenesis. As era, stars as Belikov (A. Chekhov’s Man Case): form bio-phobia and socio-phobia, growing sterility contacts, socializing over distances, closeness, priority packaging (covers) before procedures openness, nudity, fusion. There appears change genres: detective genre based on revelation removal shroud mystery, punishment crime, gives way to protectIva (from protegere: shroud, pull veil, shield). protective is avert catastrophe, protect against crime that has already become norm, — experience survival edge. emerges homo tegens, “man who enclothes”, pulls veil everything including himself. ethics poses multitude ethical challenges choices (between utilitarianism egalitarianism, principles "not doing bad things" "doing good"). dawn anthropogenesis demonstrates transformation man climbing walking upright into sitting (in front screen) Homo Sedens. With development civilization transition intellectual work sedentary lifestyle, sight hearing gain superiority. These organs are remote perception, this sense, they meet requirements social distance self-isolation favour preservation species. Physical sensitivity tactility culture Late Modern times have paradoxical linkage with concepts tact decorum, ability keep distance, not impose their views another person. author expects consequence be movement frontier deep virtual worlds. Globalization moving from extroverted stage introverted one. concludes when faced common danger does make national, ethnic, or religious distinctions, humankind becomes concrete reality one used feel vague.
